A Childhood Favorite

Growing up my family would always journey to Cosby, TN each fall to our favorite orchard to gather our plethora of apples for various dishes for the coming year. After devouring a not so good for you but taste so yummy, apple fritter from the orchard we, generally, would then continue into Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area for a quick trip to either Dollywood or one of our favorite staple restaurants The Apple Barn.

Gosh! I still remember pulling into the Barn and smelling the apple cinnamon fragarance throughout the entire establishment. Yummy! The smell is still so comforting to me. As a matter of fact in my Scentsy warmer is Apple Pie.

When I came upon this apple fritter recipe from The Pioneer Woman, I knew that I had to try it out. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be originally. The batter mixed up quickly but the longest part that I should have started earlier was heating the oil. As I write this, I am trying to pass the time to let the oil heat up.

So here is my process!

Mix

Fry...I know not healthy but you have to indulge every once in a while.

ENJOY!
We served ours with homemade apple butter that I had made this fall. According to my family it was incredible...I will be enjoying mine at a later time. Just couldn't do it tonight.

But here is a question to all my readers, whom I love to hear from occassionally so don't be shy, what do you do with all that icky oil once your done frying? I don't fry much but I am at a lost. It feels like such a waste to throw it away especially when I will be making these to go along with our Sunday night dinner. Let me know.

Have a blessed Sunday!
