This past weekend we had a very low key weekend minus Sunday...crazy as usual. But how we enjoy every minute! One of the items on our agenda was a baby shower for one of our friends at church. Mommy's original plan was to leave Sassy Daisy and Daddy at home for their afternoon nap, but our plans changed when Daisy found out that her good friend would be there too.
So during lunch at home we were talking about the shower and Daisy said this, "Mommy, can I go play with Colton (our next door neighbor)before we go to the baby washing?" Mommy and Daddy needless to say did a double take to one another asking ourselves silently, 'Did she say what I think she said?'
Mommy took the first initiative and asked her, "Did you call it a baby washing?"
She promptly responded, "Yes. Aren't we going to give the baby a bath?" We found this quite amusing considering she had attended all 3 of her Aunt Ray-Ray's showers and the thought never even crossed her mind. Daddy took over from here explaining that we call it a shower because we shower the mommy-to-be with gifts for the baby to come. Her response, "Oh, but are we still going? And can I go play with Colton?"
After the explanation that if we miss our nap there is to be no whining because playing with friends is a privilege, she quickly ran out the door to play in the dirt with our neighbor. Only 30 minutes later did we hear a knock at our door...
My heart began to sink because I was wondering which knee or body part she had skinned up today, considering only a couple of days ago she quietly walked over from Colton's house to show Mommy and Daddy that she had fallen and had a strawberry on her knee. (Honestly we were shocked by the absence of tears from our drama princess!)Thankfully, there was not another bodily injury...instead she and her "boyfriend" (as we refer to him) had decided to get friendly with his dad's newly painted Christmas yard decor. They had both adorned themselves with oil based paint!
Thankfully Daisy managed to only adorn her hands with reindeer paint lovin' whereas her friend managed to face plant a big smacker on the reindeer! So I promptly looked at Daisy and said, "I guess this calls for a baby washin'!" She looked at me with those beautiful blue eyes and just smiled...
